Mangalore – Nowadays, young men upload different types of videos on social media so that their followers can increase. Some young men also upload such videos on social media due to which they have to go to jail, a similar case has been seen in Mangalore. Mangalore police has arrested Karthik son Sanjay resident Kaillanpur police station Purkaji Muzaffarnagar. To show his status, the accused had uploaded several bullying videos on his Instagram account like beating, threatening to shoot in the court room. By making them viral, the accused was creating fear among the people. In this case, two accused were earlier arrested by the police and sent to jail. The arrested accused was also wanted in attempt to murder. Police has arrested the accused with a pistol. The police team included Narsan outpost in-charge Hemdatt Bhardwaj, constable Pankaj, constable Desh Deepak Bali, constable Sudhir.

Nepal Bans 26 Social Media Platforms Including Facebook, WhatsApp, and YouTube

Kathmandu, September 8, 2025 – In a move that has triggered intense debate over digital freedom, Nepal’s government has imposed a sweeping ban on 26 popular social media platforms, including Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), YouTube, LinkedIn, Reddit, and Signal.

The decision follows a Supreme Court directive requiring all digital platforms operating in the country to register locally, establish grievance redressal systems, and adopt self-regulation mechanisms. Authorities gave companies a seven-day ultimatum to comply, after which non-registered platforms were ordered to be blocked.

Platforms Blocked and Allowed

According to the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, major Western platforms failed to meet the compliance deadline and were deactivated nationwide.

Blocked: Facebook, Messenger, WhatsApp, Instagram, YouTube, X, Reddit, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Signal, Threads, and several others.

Allowed: Platforms like TikTok, Viber, and WeTalk, which had registered with local authorities, continue to operate. Telegram is reportedly in the process of registration.

Concerns Over Freedom and Business Climate

The ban has sparked criticism from human rights organizations and press freedom advocates, who argue that the restrictions undermine freedom of expression and access to information. The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) called the move “a serious threat to media freedom in Nepal.”

Business groups also voiced concerns, warning that the restrictions could harm digital innovation and the investment climate. Many online services and e-governance platforms rely on social media logins, raising fears of disruption for both citizens and companies.

Government’s Stand

Officials defended the crackdown, stating that the move was necessary to curb misinformation, ensure accountability, and bring foreign platforms under Nepal’s regulatory framework. A senior government spokesperson said:

> “No platform is above the law. If companies wish to operate in Nepal, they must comply with national regulations.”

What’s Next

It remains unclear whether the ban will be temporary or permanent. Industry experts believe tech giants may seek negotiations with the government, while digital rights groups are already exploring legal avenues to challenge the restrictions.

Dargah Sabir Pak smelled of rose water, ritual of Ghusl Sharif performed

Piran Kaliyar – Important ritual of Ghusl Sharif was performed on Sunday in the 757th annual Urs of Hazrat Sabir Pak. During this, Mazar-e-Muqaddas and Dargah Sharif were bathed with rose water and kewda water.

Sajjadanashin Shah Ali Ejaz Sabri Quddusi and Sahibzada Shah Yawar Ejaz Sabri performed the ritual of Ghusl Sharif. After bathing with rose water, the entire Dargah smelled fragrant. After the bath, sandalwood was presented on the Mazar-e-Muqaddas.

There was a crowd of pilgrims to get the water for Ghusl. Women, elderly and even children were seen desperate to get the water for Ghusl Sharif. Pilgrims were seen taking bottles and utensils to get the water for Ghusl.

Prayers were echoing all around the Dargah premises. The air was filled with the fragrance of rose and kewda. Meanwhile, the pilgrims stood at their places and performed the ritual of Ghusl Sharif.

With Ghusl Sharif, all the main rituals of Urs have been completed. However, Urs will continue till the 20th of the moon. During this time, the dargah premises and markets will also remain lively.

New Delhi – In the sixth national executive meeting of the Freedom Fighters and Martyr Family Welfare Maha Parishad being organized from 29 to 31, a resolution will be taken to build the India of the dreams of freedom fighters. National General Secretary of the Maha Parishad Kumar Patel said that in this meeting, important decisions are to be taken keeping in mind the sentiments of 140 crore people of India. For which, first of all, the Honorable President of India, Mrs. Dhaupadi Murmu, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Honorable Mr. V.R. In this meeting of Delhi called by the Maha Parishad, the role of about 2 crore freedom fighter families / successors of India will be ensured for the reconstruction of the country. National spokesperson of the organization Shri Gopal Narsan informed that Maha Parishad is working to create a clean political environment in the interest of the country by maintaining continuous dialogue with all the four pillars of democracy, executive, judiciary, legislature, media and the most important fifth organ, private sector (corporate sector) in building the India of the dreams of freedom fighters and martyrs in about 800 districts of the country. In the light of the above decision, the Government of India and the state governments of various states are requested through Maha Parishad to give constitutional status to All India Freedom Fighters and Martyr Family Welfare Maha Parishad and the Central/State governments should provide digitalized identity card to each successor. Dr. Indira Mishra, convener of the core committee meeting being held in New Delhi and national president of the women’s wing of the Maha Parishad, said that it is necessary to count the families of freedom fighters separately in the national census, so that the national families associated with freedom can be identified in the country. She said that the Maha Parishad will determine the role of successors for the country with the passion of patriotism. But when the truth came out, it wasn’t that exciting – it was a network glitch.

The ban is still in place

The government has made it clear that the ban imposed on TikTok is still in place. Neither has any official order come, nor has the app returned to Google Play Store or Apple App Store.

The official statement said that “no unblock order has been issued, whatever news is there – they are false and misleading.”

What really happened? It was a glitch

The truth is that some users saw the TikTok website opening without a VPN for some time, but it was just a temporary glitch – not a deliberate policy change.

TikTok’s parent company ByteDance said, “We have not resumed TikTok in India, and we are following government instructions.”

It is believed to be a case of technical misconfiguration – this happened earlier in September 2022 when some ISPs accidentally unblocked banned sites for a short time while applying a patch.

In June 2020, the Indian government banned 59 Chinese apps including TikTok on the grounds of national security and data privacy. Uttarakhand High Court issued notice to state government

New Delhi/Nainital. On the petition of Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind President Maulana Arshad Madani, on 21 October 2024, the then Chief Justice V.I. A 3-member bench headed by Chandrachud had stayed any kind of action against madrasas and all those notices which were issued to madrasas by various states, especially Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand government.

The court had also said that till any further order is issued by the court, if any new notice or order is issued by the central or state government in this regard, then the ban will also be considered applicable.

Despite this, unjust and discriminatory action against madrasas continued in Uttar Pradesh, Tripura and Uttarakhand etc. In protest against this, Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind had filed a petition in the Supreme Court. Hearing this, the court had directed Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind to appeal to the Uttarakhand High Court on 14 May 2025. Acting on this, a petition was filed in the Uttarakhand High Court, which was heard today.In its petition, Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind has said that registration has not been made compulsory in the Uttarakhand Madrasa Education Board Act 2016, nor have unregistered madrasas been declared illegal. The petition also highlights the fact that the Right to Education (Amendment) Act 2012 clearly exempts madrasas, Vedic schools and other such religious educational institutions from this law.

The petition also cites several Supreme Court judgments, in which minorities have been given protection from state interference, recognizing their unlimited right to establish and run their educational institutions. The petition also states that targeting only madrasas in Uttarakhand is unconstitutional, discriminatory and based on malice.

It is noteworthy that today the bench headed by the Chief Justice heard the case and issued a notice to the state government on the ongoing illegal action against madrasas. Chief Justice Gohantan Narendra and Justice Subhash Upadhyay ordered the government to file a reply after hearing the arguments of senior Supreme Court advocate Sanjay Hegde, who appeared on behalf of Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind.

During the hearing, Sanjay Hegde told the court that religious madrasas in the state are being closed continuously without notice, while according to the Madrasa Act, registration of madrasas is not mandatory. The Constitution has also given the minorities the right to establish their own institutions.

The government lawyer objected to the petition filed on behalf of Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind and said that Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind does not have the legal right to file a petition in this matter, because the madrasas against which action has been taken are not present before the court today. On this, the Chief Justice asked Sanjay Hegde why the court should hear his petition, as he is not directly affected. On this Sanjay Hegde said that this is not just a matter of closing down madrasas, but anyone can approach the court against the arbitrary action taken by the government. Our demand is that the court should stop the government from acting arbitrarily and make it binding on the law.

 

He further said that the action being taken by the state government against madrasas is a violation of Articles 14, 15, 19, 25, 26 and 30, the constitutional rights granted to minorities.

Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind President Maulana Arshad Madani, in response to a question on Jamiat’s move, said that providing justice to the oppressed and serving without any discrimination on the basis of humanity is the mission of Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind. Jamiat has approached the court on the request of the affected people. He said that people are foolish, whereas it is written in history books that the campaign to free the country from British slavery was started by the Ulama. These Ulama were the products of madrasas.

 

He further said that Darul Uloom Deoband was established with the purpose of preparing fighters to fight the freedom struggle against the British and to free the country. Those who are doing all this against madrasas today are actually unaware of the real character of madrasas. Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind has a deep relationship with madrasas and all our elders have studied here. Actually Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind is the voice and mind of madrasas. Communal forces are unaware of this history. It was the Ulama of these madrasas who blew the trumpet of freedom when the whole community was in deep sleep. Madrasas can be called our (heartbeat) and closing them down by declaring them illegal is a conspiracy to end our “lifeline”. Maulana Arshad Madani said that taking action by declaring madrasas illegal is also an insult to the decisions of the Supreme Court. Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind has once again started its legal battle against this conspiracy, because the protection of madrasas is actually the protection of religion. This campaign is a serious attack on the religious freedom of Muslims. He said that we will continue our legal and democratic battle for democracy, supremacy of the Constitution and protection of madrasas.

International poet Afzal Mangalori will be honored in Dubai and Sharjah

Tribute paid to senior journalist Firoz Akhtar on his first death anniversary

Minority Education Authority will be formed in Uttarakhand

Dehradun – For the first time in the state, a Minority Education Authority will be formed for the recognition of minority educational institutions. For this, the cabinet has approved the introduction of the Uttarakhand Minority Educational Institutions Act Amendment Bill in the Assembly. In the proposed bill, Muslim, Sikh, Jain, Christian, Buddhist and Parsi minority educational institutions will have to get recognition from the authority.

Five proposals were approved in the cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami in the Secretariat on Sunday. A decision was taken in the cabinet to introduce several bills in the monsoon session starting from August 19 in Bhararisain Assembly of summer capital Gairsain.

The Uttarakhand Minority Educational Institutions Act 2025 Amendment Bill will also be tabled in the Assembly. In this bill, an authority will be constituted for the recognition of minority institutions.

After the amendment, when the Act comes into force, Gurumukhi and Pali languages can be studied in recognized minority educational institutions. Apart from this, Uttarakhand Madrasa Education Board Act 2016, Uttarakhand Non-Government Arabic and Persian Madrasa Recognition Rules 2019 will be repealed from July 1, 2026.

Main features of the Act

1 – Formation of Authority – Uttarakhand State Minority Education Authority will be constituted in the state, which will provide the status of minority educational institution.

2 – Mandatory recognition – Any educational institution established by Muslim, Christian, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain or Parsi community will be required to obtain recognition from the authority to get the status of minority educational institution.

3 – Protection of institutional rights – The Act will not interfere in the establishment and operation of minority educational institutions, but will ensure that the quality and excellence of education is maintained.

4 – Mandatory conditions – To get recognition, the educational institution must be registered under the Society Act, Trust Act or Company Act. Land, bank accounts and other assets should be in the name of the institution. Recognition can be withdrawn in case of financial irregularities, lack of transparency or activities against religious and social harmony.

5 – Monitoring and Examination – The authority will ensure that education is provided as per the standards set by the Uttarakhand Board of School Education and the evaluation of students is fair and transparent.

Effect of the Act

• Educational institutions of minority communities in the state will now get recognition through a transparent process.

• Along with the quality of education, the constitutional rights of minorities will also be protected.

• The state government will have the power to monitor the functioning of the institutions and issue necessary instructions from time to time.
