Harak Singh Rawat and MLA Haji Furkan Ahmad Lead March; Congress Demands Fair Investigation and Action Against Those Responsible

PIRAN KALIYAR, Uttarakhand: The Congress party organised a justice march in the Piran Kaliyar Assembly constituency, demanding justice for Ankita Bhandari and a fair investigation into her murder case. The march was led by senior Congress leader and former Cabinet Minister Harak Singh Rawat, along with Kaliyar MLA Haji Furkan Ahmad. A large number of Congress workers participated in the march and raised their voices against the BJP-led state government.
The march began at Green Beauty Palace on Rahmatpur Road. Congress workers proceeded on foot through Rahmatpur and Bedpur Road before reaching the famous Dargah of Hazrat Alauddin Ahmad Sabir Pak. At the shrine, prayers were offered for peace and harmony in the country, prosperity in Uttarakhand, and Congress’s victory in the upcoming Assembly elections.
Addressing the gathering, former Cabinet Minister Harak Singh Rawat said that the Ankita Bhandari case requires a fair and impartial investigation and that justice must be delivered to the victim’s family. He asserted that Congress would continue its struggle against injustice until justice is ensured. He also criticised the BJP government, saying that it could not evade questions raised by the public.
Recalling his earlier visits to Kaliyar Sharif, Rawat said that he had previously prayed to Maa Ganga for justice in Uttarakhand and had now come to Dargah Sabir Pak to pray for justice, peace and prosperity in the state.
Taking aim at the BJP government over inflation and corruption, Rawat alleged that prices of essential commodities were rising, sugar prices had witnessed a significant hike, farmers’ land was being sold, and mining leases in Uttarakhand were being allotted to people from Gujarat. He further alleged that those demanding justice for Ankita Bhandari were being intimidated through the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
Referring to the upcoming Assembly elections, Rawat cautioned people against attempts to mislead voters and divide votes. He urged the public to remain vigilant and make informed political decisions.
Kaliyar MLA Haji Furkan Ahmad said that Congress had consistently raised its voice for justice for Ankita Bhandari’s family. He demanded a fair investigation and strict action against those found guilty. He reiterated that the party’s struggle would continue until justice was delivered.
