When the newly appointed District Magistrate of Dehradun Savin Bansal came to know about this, he immediately directed the Assistant Labour Commissioner to conduct raids in the district. In the raids conducted on Thursday, children doing child labour have been freed from many places.
District Magistrate Savin Bansal has taken a strict stand against child labour in the district. On receiving information about child labour in the district, the District Magistrate directed the Assistant Labour Commissioner to conduct raids in the district. He also directed that to stop child labour, along with the raids, awareness programmes should be conducted through various mediums. Posters and pamphlets related to the crime of child labour should be pasted at shops, establishments and public places, which should contain details of the provisions of the Child and Adolescent Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act 1986, if child labour is found being employed.
On Thursday, on the instructions of the District Magistrate, the District Task Force for the elimination of child labour, took immediate action in collaboration with social organisations working to stop child labour and raided establishments like restaurants etc. located on Sahastradhara Road. During the raid, many children found doing child labour were rescued. After getting the children medically examined, they were handed over to the Child Welfare Committee, where the children will be counselled and the process of handing them over to their parents will be initiated.To prevent child labour in the district, the district administration, social organizations are running various public awareness programs to stop child labour and various schemes are also being run so that child labour can be stopped. Despite this, information about child labour is being received at many places in the district. Taking this seriously, the District Magistrate directed the Assistant Labor Commissioner to activate the confidential information system and take immediate action on complaints of child labour received through various means and keep the Child Labour Elimination District Task Force active and run effective campaigns and conduct public awareness programs to free the district from child labour. Here, efforts have been intensified by the newly appointed District Magistrate in Dehradun district to prevent child labour. It was told that in recent days, confidential sources and officials of some voluntary organizations have met the District Magistrate and informed him that child labour is being done at many places in the district, on which the District Magistrate took the matter very seriously and reprimanded the officials of the Labor Department and gave instructions to free the children from child labour by conducting raids. In the district task force, Assistant Labor Commissioner Deepak Kumar, State Coordinator Bachpan Bachao Suresh Uniyal, LIO Deepak Kumar, Ashwani Kumar, Amit Thapliyal, AISA, Mansi Mishra from Samarpan Sanstha, Savita Gogia from Child Helpline, Jasbir and Lakshmi from Aasra Trust, Praveen Chauhan from District Child Protection Unit etc. were included in the team.
