CJP Alleges Detention of Student Protesters in Several States, Urges Centre to Honour Its Assurance

New Delhi: The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) has alleged that students and other protesters are being targeted, detained, and arrested in several states, including Assam, West Bengal, and Bihar. Expressing serious concern over these reports, the party has urged the Central Government to intervene immediately.

In a statement posted on social media platform X, CJP spokesperson Saurabh Das said the party had suspended its nationwide agitation only after receiving assurances from the Government of India that no punitive action would be taken against any protester, either now or in the future, regardless of whether the state was governed by the BJP or an NDA alliance.

The party said the reports emerging from different states are deeply worrying and called on the government to honour its commitment. According to CJP, its legal team has been actively working since the first day of the movement, coordinating with lawyers across the concerned states to secure the release of those detained or arrested and to provide them with all necessary legal assistance.

CJP appealed to the Central Government, particularly BJP President J.P. Nadda and Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh, to ensure that the assurances given to the protesters are implemented. The party demanded the immediate release of all detained individuals and insisted that no coercive or retaliatory action should be taken against protesters anywhere in the country.

The party also called for the withdrawal of all FIRs registered against protesters. In its statement, CJP reminded the government that it had promised to provide a written guarantee on the matter by July 28, 2026.

CJP stated that its decision to suspend the nationwide agitation was taken entirely in good faith and based on the government’s assurances. It warned that any failure to honour those commitments would not only amount to a breach of trust with the party but would also undermine the confidence of millions of young people who chose dialogue over continued protests.

The party concluded by saying that any betrayal of the youth would be unacceptable and emphasized that the credibility of any government is measured not merely by the promises it makes, but by its willingness to fulfil them.
