Cleanliness campaign should be run in the state with public participation – Chief Minister
People should be made aware with effective plans to prevent food wastage.

Dehradun – Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, while holding a high-level meeting at the Chief Minister’s residence, directed the officials to run the cleanliness campaign on a large scale in the state. He said that along with creating awareness about cleanliness, public participation should also be ensured. The Chief Minister directed that within a year, a well-planned plan should be worked out to bring Dehradun, Haridwar, Rudrapur, Haldwani and Kotdwar up in the cleanliness ranking. The best practices of those states where good work has been done for cleanliness should also be adopted. The Chief Minister said that crores of devotees come to Devbhoomi Uttarakhand for darshan. It should be ensured that the message of cleanliness of Devbhoomi Uttarakhand reaches the country and the world. He said that continuous work should also be done towards beautification of cities and infrastructure development. He said that campaigns related to public concerns are successful only with public participation, full cooperation of public organizations and social organizations should be taken in cleanliness campaign also.
The Chief Minister said that a culture of books should be created in the state, instead of bouquets, books should be presented for various programs and for presenting guests. The Chief Minister directed that one library should be built in every district and block. Useful books should be arranged in the library for the general public and those appearing in competitive examinations.
The Chief Minister said that with the aim of promoting sports and connecting the youth with the drug-free campaign, development authorities and municipal bodies should work in coordination with the education department to strengthen the playgrounds in schools, so that these playgrounds can be used after the academic hours. Can be used better for the convenience of sports lovers.
The Chief Minister said that there should be no wastage of food in government functions and an effective action plan should be made to prevent misuse of food. The Chief Minister also directed to run an awareness campaign to prevent misuse of food in private functions.
In the meeting, Additional Chief Secretary Mrs. Radha Raturi, Secretary Shailesh Bagoli, Vinay Shankar Pandey, Special Secretary Dr. Parag Madhukar Dhakate, ADG A. P Anshuman, Director General Education Banshidhar Tiwari were present.
