Dehradun Gears Up for Eid Milad-un-Nabi Procession

Central Procession to Be Held on August 26; Organisers Highlight Peace, Brotherhood and the Message of Humanity

Dehradun, August 25: Preparations for the Eid Milad-un-Nabi celebrations are gaining momentum across Dehradun, with mosques, madrasas and various religious organisations in Gandhi Gram, Lohia Nagar and Kandoli organising Milad gatherings, Mehfil-e-Naat, Durood-o-Salam and programmes on Seerat-e-Mustafa.

A central Eid Milad-un-Nabi procession will be taken out on the occasion of 12 Rabi-ul-Awwal, with a large number of devotees expected to participate. Organisers said the procession will focus on promoting the Seerat-e-Tayyaba of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, peace, unity, brotherhood and humanity.

According to the organisers, Sunni Muslims have been observing Eid Milad-un-Nabi in Dehradun for several decades while maintaining peace and communal harmony and adhering to legal and religious norms. This year too, the procession is being planned around the message of peace, unity and humanity.

Processions to Begin at 8 AM

On Wednesday, August 26, 2026, processions from Ghausia Mosque in Gandhi Gram and Raza Mosque in Lohia Nagar will begin at around 8 AM. The two processions will proceed along their respective routes and converge at the Municipal Corporation Hall near Doon Hospital, where the procession from Sabri Mosque, Kandoli, will also join.

The organisers said the gathering will serve as an expression of love and respect for Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and will seek to convey the message of his Seerat-e-Tayyaba, peace and brotherhood.

Ulama to Address Gathering on Seerat-e-Tayyaba

According to office-bearers of the Jashn-e-Milad-un-Nabi Committee, after the processions reach the Municipal Corporation Hall, religious scholars will address the gathering on the significance of Milad-un-Nabi and Seerat-e-Tayyaba.

The programme will conclude with collective prayers and a message of peace.

During the procession, participants are expected to recite Durood-o-Salam, Naat-e-Rasool and passages highlighting the Seerat-e-Mustafa, conveying messages of love, brotherhood, peace and humanity.

Appeal to Administration for Proper Arrangements

The organisers have appealed to the district administration, Municipal Corporation and concerned departments to ensure proper arrangements along the procession routes, including cleanliness, road repairs, electricity, water supply and security.

They said adequate arrangements would help ensure that participants do not face inconvenience during the procession.

Appeal for Peace, Discipline and Brotherhood

The organisers have also appealed to Muslims across Dehradun to participate in the Eid Milad-un-Nabi procession with peace, discipline, mutual respect and a spirit of brotherhood.

They said the procession should reflect the teachings of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, which emphasise humanity, love, tolerance, compassion and mutual respect.

According to the organisers, spreading the message of peace, humanity and mutual respect is among the most important needs of the present time.
