Doiwala secured first place among universities and colleges in Uttarakhand

Students created history under the guidance of Dr. Afroz Iqbal

On the occasion of the *Silver Jubilee Celebration* of the establishment of Uttarakhand, *Government Post Graduate College, Doiwala* secured first place in the *State Level Intercollegiate Quiz Competition** organized at *Devbhoomi University, Dehradun**, inscribing the college’s name in golden letters across the state.

Dr. Devendra Bhasin, Vice President of the Higher Education Upgradation Committee, was present as the chief guest at this state-level event.

Addressing the students, he said –

> “There is a need to encourage the spirit of innovation and research in today’s education system. Such competitions are extremely helpful in developing knowledge, wisdom, and self-confidence in students.”

Prof. N.K., Vice Chancellor of **Shridev Suman University, Tehri Garhwal**. Joshi** said in his address –

> “Education and innovation are the keys to a bright future for any state. This achievement by Doiwala College symbolizes Uttarakhand’s progress in the field of higher education.”

On this occasion, **Secretary of Higher Education** Dr. Ranjit Kumar Sinha** encouraged the participating students, saying –

> “The level of performance of the state’s college students today reflects the quality of our education system and the dedication of the teachers. We must maintain this energy so that Uttarakhand can become a center of academic excellence.”

Several academicians, including **Prof. Mahabir Singh Rawat**, **Dr. Hemlata Mishra**, **Dr. Shubhashish Goswami**, and **Dr. Digvijay Singh**, were present at the event.

Golden Performance of Doiwala College

The competition was held in 25 rounds between teams from 17 selected colleges across the state.

Based on knowledge, reasoning, and questions related to the *cultural, historical, and social* themes of Uttarakhand, **Government Postgraduate College, Doiwala** secured first place.

**S.S.J.R.R. Campus, Almora** secured second place, and **Government Postgraduate College, Kotdwar** secured third place.

Dr. Afroz Iqbal’s guidance proved key to success

As the nodal officer for Doiwala College, **Dr. Afroz Iqbal** played a crucial role in this competition.

He organized special study sessions, mock quizzes, and workshops focused on *Uttarakhand Special GK* for the students.

**Professor M.S. Rawat (Sridev Suman University, Rishikesh)** said –

> “Dr. Afroz Iqbal’s guidance has strengthened both the confidence and intellectual preparation of the students. This achievement was possible only due to his dedication and leadership.”

Three Doiwala students put in excellent performances

The three students on the winning team—

2. Miss Suha Ali, and

3. Miss Ananya Lasiyal—

impressed the judges with their excellent answers and quick decision-making.
