Haridwar. An important meeting of the Scheduled Castes was held at Sant Ravidas Mandir in Sector 1 BHEL against the Supreme Court’s decision on classification and creamy layer formula in reservation for SC category. Hundreds of people from the Scheduled Castes attended the meeting. The speakers in the meeting said that this decision of the Supreme Court against reservation is unconstitutional and is based on casteist mentality. He said that the reservation given in Article 341 of the Constitution cannot be challenged. If it is being given, then it is against the basic spirit of the Constitution.
The speakers said that the Supreme Court has given this decision without any solid basis. He said that by doing classification, these people want to break the unity of the Scheduled Castes. He told the people about the creamy layer that reservation has been given not on economic basis but on the basis of caste. Even today, who knows how many posts are lying vacant, the backlog quota has not been filled yet and the Supreme Court is talking about classification and creamy layer.
The speakers said that the society has chosen 21st August for the agitation. The society has appealed for Bharat Bandh. The speakers said that even before this, the society had demonstrated its strength by agitating on 02 April 2018 and had reinstated the SC/ST Act. The speakers said that even today a similar agitation is needed. The speakers said that the Supreme Court should reconsider its decision itself, if it does not, then the central government should reverse it by passing a resolution against this decision in the House.
