Pithoragarh-Dehradun air service inaugurated by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated the Pithoragarh-Dehradun air service from Naini Saini Airport on Tuesday and he himself left for Dehradun in an airplane. The Chief Minister congratulated everyone on the start of this air service and also expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia. He said that Uttarakhand is a very important state from the point of view of religious tourism. Air service is very important for the ease of movement of religious tourists and nature tourists here. Earlier it used to take 17 hours to go from Pithoragarh to Dehradun, Delhi. Due to construction of all-weather road by the efforts of Modi ji, it takes 11 hours to reach Dehradun and Delhi. After the start of air service in the frontier districts, one can reach Dehradun in 1 hour.
The Chief Minister said that Jolly Grant Airport is being made of international standard, for this a new terminal is being constructed. OLS survey has been conducted by the Airport Authority of India to develop Pantnagar Airport as an international airport. Earlier, heli service was started from Jolly Grant Airport between Dehradun-Almora-Pithoragarh, the government plans to regularize this also. Work is also being done to include small aircraft services from Chinyalisaur and Gauchar in the near future.
The Chief Minister said that after Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Adi Kailash and Jageshwar Dham, the number of tourists is increasing rapidly in Adi Kailash and Jageshwar Dham. The Prime Minister is giving a new identity to the tourist places of Uttarakhand in the country and abroad. He expressed hope that this air service will prove to be a milestone in promoting tourism in Pithoragarh district. The Chief Minister said that this service has now been started for three days a week, later it will be expanded to five days. The Chief Minister requested the Union Civil Aviation Minister to start air service from Pithoragarh to Hindon in the coming time.
Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, while addressing through virtual medium, said that the double engine government is committed to making every possible continuous effort for development. He said that Uttarakhand is the land of gods and is the gateway to North India and I have a deep connection with Uttarakhand. My 5 years have been spent in Uttarakhand only. He said that both Kumaon and Garhwal have been associated with the airline, it is a matter of joy for us. He said that currently a 19 seater ship is being operated. Which is being run three days a week on Monday, Tuesday and Friday, will reach Dehradun from Pithoragarh in 1 hour. This will benefit the local people as well as tourists. He appreciated the work being done by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami in the state.
