Retired IAS officer Sushil Kumar becomes State Election Commissioner

         

Dehradun (Amanullah Usmani) Retired IAS officer of Uttarakhand Sushil Kumar has been appointed as the State Election Commissioner. He retired from the post of Garhwal Commissioner last year. The post of State Election Commissioner (Panchayati Raj and Local Bodies) was vacant for the last eight months. Now, in view of the Panchayat and Body elections in the state, the government has appointed Sushil Kumar to this post. Its order has been issued on Thursday. At the same time, he has taken charge by reaching the commission office.

Commissioner Sushil Kumar is a 2005 batch IAS officer of Uttarakhand cadre. He has done graduation in science from Kurukshetra University and MBA from IP University, New Delhi. Before joining the state civil service, he has also worked as a commissioned officer in the Corps of Engineers in the Indian Army.

During his tenure, he has worked on various prestigious and challenging posts like Municipal Commissioner, Dehradun, District Magistrate, Pithoragarh and District Magistrate Pauri Garhwal. He also has experience of stints in various line departments as Labour Commissioner and Sugarcane Commissioner of Uttarakhand. He has also served as Secretary, Revenue Department and Secretary, Food & Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department in the government.
