UCC bill introduced in Uttarakhand Assembly
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami introduced the Uniform Civil Code Uttarakhand 2024 Bill in the state assembly in Dehradun. Slogans of “Vande Mataram and Jai Shri Ram” were raised by MLAs in the state assembly after the introduction of the Uniform Civil Code Uttarakhand 2024 Bill. What could be those points which can make Uttarakhand Uniform Civil Code special? Let us tell you about those points.
Uniform Civil Code Main Points
1- The marriage age of girls can be increased in the Uniform Civil Code. According to experts, the marriage age of girls can be increased to 21 years.
2- Another special thing about the Uniform Civil Code is that girls will get equal rights in inheritance as boys. This means that now there will be no difference in land property between son and daughter.
3- There will be a ban on polygamy or polygamy, that is, polygamy can be banned completely, only one marriage will be valid.
4- As soon as the Uniform Civil Code is implemented, declaration will be necessary for live-in relationships. Parents of people living in live-in relationships should be aware of this. To be in a live-in relationship, one has to register with the police.
5- There can be simplification in the process of adoption of Uniform Civil Code. In a way, adoption can be valid for everyone. Muslim women can also be given the right to adopt.

7- Registration after marriage may be mandatory under the Uniform Civil Code. Every marriage will be registered in the village itself. An unregistered marriage will be considered invalid. If marriage is not registered, you will not get the benefit of any government facility.
8- Same grounds for divorce can be available to both husband and wife. The same grounds of divorce which are applicable for the husband will also be applicable for the wife.
9- The compensation given to the wife on the death of her employed son will also include the responsibility of maintaining the elderly parents. If the wife remarries, her parents will also have a share in the compensation received on the husband’s death.
10- If the wife dies and if her parents have no support, then the husband will be responsible for their maintenance.
11- Guardianship, in case the child is orphan, the process of guardianship can be simplified. In case of quarrel between husband and wife, the custody of children can be given to their grandparents.
12- There may also be a provision for population control in the Uniform Civil Code. To control population, a limit on children can be set.
