Uttarakhand gets relief from the threat of power crisis in summer
150 MW power received from central quota for three months
Dehradun (Amaanullah Usmani) To avoid the threat of power crisis in summer, the Central Power Ministry has allocated 150 MW power to UPCL for three months. The central quota was going to end on 31 March. The state government had sent a proposal for 400 MW power in view of the demand in the upcoming season.
On Wednesday, the Power Ministry issued an order to give 150 MW power to Uttarakhand from April 1 to June 30 out of 300 MW power of Bundelkhand region of UP. The ministry has sent the allocation letter for this power to be received for three months to the Central Electricity Authority.
The power that the state government was currently getting from the non-allocated quota of the Center was going to expire on 31 March. The state government had demanded 400 MW power for this from the non-allocated quota. On which 150 MW has been received. More power is expected.
With the increase in heat in the state, the demand for electricity has started increasing. Currently, the demand for electricity has crossed the figure of four crore units. In comparison to which, about 3.1 crore units of electricity is available from the state and central quota. The rest of the electricity is being procured by UPCL from the market and other sources. UPCL is claiming to have full power available as per the demand, due to which power cuts have not been officially started anywhere yet.
