SC-ST Teachers Association celebrated International Women’s Day
Roorkee (Deepak Maurya) A felicitation ceremony was organized on the occasion of International Women’s Day by SC-ST Teachers Association, Haridwar District. In this, women of the society who have done commendable work in various fields were honoured. In the function organized at Dr. BR Ambedkar Chetna Bhawan Preet Vihar, along with emphasizing the importance of women power, a resolution was also taken to advance the weak and talented women of the society. The program was presided over by former Principal Naresh Burman and District General Secretary of the Operating Association, Jeet Pal Singh. The function started with the lighting of lamps and garlanding of the statues of Saint Shiromani Guru Ravidas, Constitution maker Baba Saheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, Goddess of Knowledge Mata Savitribai Phule and Tathagat Gautam Buddha. The guests attending the function honored the talented women of Scheduled Caste and Tribe community by covering them with shawls and giving them mementos. District President of the Association, Meghraj Singh said that today women are not behind in any field. Women are proving their talent in every field. There is a need to take the society forward by educating the daughters. Advocate Satto Burman, honored with *Nari Tu Narayani* award on the occasion of International Women’s Day, said that women of SC-ST community are moving forward by struggling on their own.The women of the society also face poverty and lack of other essential facilities, but the good thing is that the family is fully supporting the daughters. Encouraging daughters to move forward. The women honored at the ceremony included Pratibha Dolaka, Advocate Satto Burman, Kavita Rani, Reena Rani, Krishla Kothari etc. On this occasion, President of Dr. BR Ambedkar Social Welfare Committee Preet Vihar, Basant Lal, District Media Incharge of the Association VP Singh, Treasurer Dharmendra Kumar, Former Principal Nathi Ram, Genda Singh, Roopchad Kataria, Manoj Kumar, Sunil Kataria, Raj Singh, Buli Chad. Santosh, Pushpa, Rama, Geeta, Sarita, Rajkumari, Mitlesh etc. were present.
