50 thousand stray dogs spreading terror in the streets of Doon

The terror of stray dogs has spread from the streets of Doon to the house of the corporation. According to the corporation, there are more than 50 thousand stray dogs in the city. The maximum terror of dogs is in Dehradun, Dalanwala, Adhoivala, Karanpur, Nalapani, Kargi, Banjarawala, Paltan Bazaar, Lalpul, Turner Road, Subhash Nagar, Racecourse, Vasant Vihar, Aryanagar, Kewal Vihar, Kaulagarh, MDDA Colony, Tilak Road, Khudbuda, Vasant Vihar and Patel Nagar.

The councilors say that the Municipal Corporation should make a concrete policy which can get rid of the terror of stray dogs. It is not easy for the corporation to take steps in this direction. Because there are strict provisions in the Supreme Court guidelines and the Animal Cruelty Act. Here, the councilors raised this issue in the house and everyone seemed to agree. People living in different localities of the city say that whatever the method, the terror of dogs in the city should be reduced.

The councillors have not raised this issue in the House without any reason, this is indeed a big problem of Doon. Stray dogs start creating terror in all the colonies of the city as soon as the evening falls. The Municipal Corporation is proving unsuccessful in controlling stray dogs. ABC program is going on in Doon, complaints of stray dogs and cases of dog bites are coming here on a large scale.

Apart from Dehradun city, dogs are also creating terror in Mussoorie, Doiwala, Herbertpur, Vikasnagar, Selaqui and Rishikesh. About three thousand doses of anti-rabies vaccine are ordered in Doon every three months, which get finished by the end of the month. Municipal Corporation officials say that the number of dog puppies on the streets has reduced considerably. The effect of sterilization will be seen in the coming one or two years.

There are a large number of dogs of dangerous breeds in Doon. Dogs of breeds like Pitbull, Boxer, Rottweiler, Doberman are being reared in large numbers. According to the corporation, there are more than five thousand pet dogs in Doon. People who have been bitten by pet dogs are reaching Doon Hospital in large numbers in cases of dog bites.
