Chief Minister Dhami paid tribute to the martyrs
Dehradun (Amaan ullah Usmani) Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami paid tribute to the martyred heroes at the Martyr Memorial located at Gandhi Park on the occasion of Vijay Diwas. Remembering the martyrs, CM said that this country can never forget the contribution of those brave sons who have sacrificed their lives.
CM Dhami said that today is the day to praise the Indian Army in the war between India and Pakistan. On this day in the year 1971, about 93 thousand armed Pakistani soldiers had surrendered before the bravery of the brave sons of Mother India. This war was a direct example of the unwavering determination and sacrifice of the heroes of India. The Chief Minister said that the land of Uttarakhand, along with being the land of Gods, is also the land of bravery and sacrifice. In the Indo-Pak war of 1971, 255 soldiers of Veerbhoomi Uttarakhand sacrificed their lives to protect Mother India. 74 soldiers of the state, who showed their indomitable courage and valor in this war, were honored with various gallantry medals. The immortal stories of sacrifice of all such heroes continue to inspire our youth even today.
The Chief Minister said that as per the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the construction work of the Panch Dham Military Dham in Dehradun is in progress. This Dham will be a humble tribute from our side to all those heroes who sacrificed their lives for the glory of the tricolor without caring for their own lives. This military base will serve as a divine inspiration for the worship of the nation for the coming generations. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the morale of the soldiers has increased rapidly. Today our soldiers are equipped with state-of-the-art weapons, world class equipment is being provided for their support and security. Today the morale of our soldiers is so high that they are capable of entering the enemy’s house and taking action against them.
The Chief Minister said that as the Chief Servant of Uttarakhand, his endeavor is to make special schemes for military families, so that a soldier does not have to worry about his family while fighting in the war. The state government is fully committed to increasing the facilities provided to the soldiers and their families under the guidance of the Prime Minister. The state government has also increased the lump sum grant amount payable to soldiers awarded gallantry medals of Uttarakhand. Under which, the soldier awarded with Paramvir Chakra will be given Rs. 30 lakh to Rs. 50 lakh, Mahavir Chakra from Rs. 20 lakh to Rs. 35 lakh, Kirti Chakra from Rs. 20 lakh to Rs. 35 lakh, Veer Chakra and Shaurya Chakra from Rs. 15 to 25 lakh and Army Gallantry Medal from Rs. 07 lakh to Rs. 15 lakh. Approval was given. The pension of the soldiers and veterans who participated in the Second World War from Uttarakhand has been increased from Rs 8 thousand to Rs 10 thousand per month. The monthly pension of freedom fighters and their widows has been increased from Rs 21 thousand to Rs 25 thousand.
