Congress Leaders Submit Complaint at Manglaur Kotwali; MLA Qazi Nizamuddin Demands Strict Action Against Those Responsible

 Manglaur: The controversy over the alleged ‘purification’ of the Ramleela Maidan in Haldwani following Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge’s rally has intensified. Congress leaders and workers across Uttarakhand have protested against the alleged incident and submitted complaints at various police stations, demanding action against those responsible.

In Manglaur, Congress MLA Qazi Nizamuddin, along with party workers, reached Manglaur Kotwali and submitted a written complaint to the police. The Congress leaders demanded an impartial inquiry into the matter and strict legal action if the allegations are found to be true.

Congress leaders have alleged that after Mallikarjun Kharge’s public meeting at the Ramleela Maidan in Haldwani, the venue was allegedly washed and cleaned in the name of ‘purification’, followed by religious rituals.

The Congress has strongly objected to the alleged action, describing it as a matter concerning the dignity and respect of the Dalit community. Party leaders have alleged that such practices could promote discrimination and untouchability in society.

MLA Qazi Nizamuddin said that Mallikarjun Kharge is a senior national leader and a prominent Dalit leader. He said that the alleged ‘purification’ of the venue after Kharge’s programme is not merely an issue concerning an individual, but is connected with the dignity and respect of the entire Dalit community.

He demanded a fair investigation and said that strict action should be taken against those found responsible.

Congress workers also raised their voice against the case registered against Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi in connection with the developments surrounding the Haldwani controversy.

Congress leaders said that the party is using democratic and constitutional means to register its protest and demand action in the matter.

The Congress workers who reached Manglaur Kotwali said that the Constitution guarantees equality and dignity to every citizen and that discrimination on the basis of caste or social identity should not be tolerated.

The party has urged the police to conduct a fair investigation into the alleged incident and take appropriate legal action against anyone found responsible.
