Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind Demands High-Level Probe into Saharanpur Mosque Demolition 

Memorandum Submitted to the President; Action Against Officials and Reconstruction of Mosque at Same Site Sought

Dehradun: The Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind, District Dehradun, has submitted a memorandum addressed to the Hon’ble President of India through the District Magistrate, Dehradun, seeking a high-level inquiry into the demolition of an old mosque located on the Saharanpur Collectorate premises in Uttar Pradesh.

The memorandum describes the demolition as an alleged unilateral and arbitrary administrative action and calls for an impartial investigation into the entire matter.

According to the memorandum, the mosque located within the Saharanpur Collectorate premises was around 110 years old and had historical significance. The Jamiat has alleged that the demolition process disregarded principles of natural justice and proper legal procedures.

The Jamiat has demanded that the entire matter be investigated immediately by an independent investigation agency or a retired High Court judge, so that the circumstances surrounding the demolition and the decision-making process can be examined impartially.

The memorandum further alleges that the affected party was not given adequate opportunity to present its case before the demolition action was carried out.

The organisation has also sought strict action against the administrative officials allegedly responsible for ordering or participating in the demolition without following due judicial and legal procedures.

The memorandum states that if any official is found responsible for wrongdoing or negligence during the investigation, appropriate disciplinary action should be taken against them.

One of the key demands raised by the Jamiat is that the mosque should be reconstructed at the same location as compensation for the alleged injustice caused by the demolition.

The organisation has appealed to the President to take immediate cognizance of the matter and ensure justice to the affected party while upholding the Constitution and the rule of law.

The memorandum was signed by several office-bearers and members of Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind, District Dehradun, including District President Maulana Abdul Mannan, Treasurer Master Abdul Sattar, Nagar President Mufti Ayaz Jamei, Vice President Maulana Raghib Mazahiri, Tauseef Khan, Maulana Abdul Khalid Qari and Mohammad Marghoob, among others.
